The Jeff Mentzer College Football Rankings

As I have been encouraged to publish my rankings, I will not tell you how I come up with these numbers, but I will let you know my top 25. I rank all of the teams, but the following is just the top 25.

Have fun and let's see if my #1 Texas is really better than my #2 of USC.

  1. I find this intrigueing. I'd say the only bad beat is #3 losing to #20.

    You've got some other losses where the gap is pretty big, but the higher ranked team is ranked in the 20's which (I think) would/should indicate that team doesn't have overwhelming talent to begin with.

    Perhaps a "hot team" factor in your formula? i.e. some bonus figure that grows with a current season winning streak and reverts to zero at any point a team takes a loss?
